Origin:
Normally a Lunian is born with one natural Element. In fact, it is not unheard of that an Earth and Fire should produce an Air child. There are few who possess the ability of two elements. These individuals either become Scholars, Peacekeepers, or Healers.
Those who belong to Air are the Scholars of Lunia because they can travel great distances to learn vast knowledge. Fire benders are the Healers, as fire is a symbol of rebirth and growth. The Peacekeepers possess the ability to bend Earth. This gives them the power to shape the world around them and is reserved for only the truest of Hearts. Water elementals are rare, as Water is the elixir of life. Those who can control Water rule Lunia and sit on the High Council, acknowledging that life is a balance of order and chaos. Each section has their own tests that Initiates must pass in order to enter into the Chosen Path. When a child reaches their 130th year they must choose a Path, but for only one Element they can handle. Those who fail cannot choose another Path but must return home to live among the rest of the population, obtaining various jobs in one of their Elemental paths.
Lylai was an exceptional child. Not only did she possess the ability to manipulate two elements but one of her elements was Water, the most rare of elementals. As a child Lylai was never fond of being in charge of anything. Her spirit longed to be out in the world, exploring and discovering new places. When the time came for her to choose between Air and Water, Lylai avoided the tranquil life of Water and embraced the volatility of Air.
Reason for Coming to Earth:
On Lunia Lylai was a Transitional Scholar, which placed her a step above Novice but two steps below Noble Scholar. As a Transitional, Lylai was one class away from completing her Ultimate Scholar degree. Originally, Lylai came to Earth to perform an ethnography of another planet. This study would complete her current undertaking in the “Life Outside Lunia” lecture. Deciding that studying on Earth would be beneficial to her studies, the Council of Noble Scholars decided to let Lylai finish out her Ultimate Scholar degree on Earth. Compelled by the diverse population at the university, Lylai studies not only history but participates in anthropology, which not only gives Lylai a chance to learn about Earth but study its ideological habits.
Coming to Earth in the time after the recording of those with abilities (post-Cival War era) Lylai found herself both disgusted with the destruction and deception mankind was capable of, while also fascinated with the life of the average academic American. Being on Earth, Lylai was introduced to the manga "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Finding the depictions of her world to be uncannily correct, Lylai wondered if humanity had ever been to Lunia.
The duality of an identity shaped by Air and Water prevents Lylai from walking away from an unjust situation. It is in her nature to be curious; she not only wants to learn what the conflict is and why it happened, but to restore balance between peace and chaos. She helps those in need, even at the risk of getting harmed herself. Working with the West Coast Avengers to protect the innocent, as per her work visa to stay on Earth, Lylai shadows Vision in his weekly activities. However, she mainly spends her time at California State University, Northridge.

The Conflict:
Many centuries ago there was a powerful elemental named Aerys who was able to weave Air, yet, she longed for the ability to control Water. She reveled in disrupting the balance of life, favoring chaos over peace, and wanted the power to rule Lunia. In her desperation for control, Aerys murdered a Water Ruler. Instead of letting his elemental power return to the world, Aerys harnessed his power in a glass vial, which she hid from others in a flurry of Air. For her crimes Aerys was cast out by the High Council to a remote planet called Earth. There she assimilated into the ideology of the human race, changing her form and taking the name Eris. She became a Goddess to the mortal men- the Goddess of Chaos. Aerys/Eris used Water's influence to prolong her life, waiting to take her revenge against the High Council.
With the arrival of Lylai signaling a way home, Aerys/Eris is ready to strike. Can Lylai and her new friends stop the chaos before it destroys two worlds?! Find out in Lylai's first appearance in Action Comics!
